The article “Guest Column: Strong ethics provide guidance” talks about the importance of having an ethical leader in a leadership position. The article describes an ethical leader as “….a beacon, reminding us that what we stand for is good and right and true:” ( Bizjournals.com, 2017 ). This statement stuck out to me, as I had not thought of it in this way, but I fully agree. In the workplace, often the boss is what workers look to daily, and especially if times get tough in the workplace. If the boss is not seen in a good light, things will simply become worse. However, if the boss is a good, ethical leader, then he is seen as a “beacon”, as the quote above says. This will lead to a better workplace environment, and happier employees.

This article reminded me of the assignment we did earlier in the semester where we had to chose an ethical CEO. By choosing an ethical CEO, we made sure that our company had a leader that could be seen as a “beacon” for our employees.
