Why?   What criteria  can we use to judge whether slavery in the US was part of a capitalist system?  Looking at  UB Phillips’s article on slaveholding.  what do you notice about the article?  How does he see slaveholding?  Do you agree with him?  How does he see slaveholding within capitalism?
